I haven’t thought of a title for it yet, but it makes me think of public transport, stepping into the drain instead of the bus, gum on your seat and that greasy imprint of someone’s hair / face / palm on the window next to you.
I’ve been reading my guilty pleasure (and no, it’s not 50 Shades of Grey!) … George R.R. Martin’s series A Song of Ice and Fire, the books that the very popular Game of Thrones television series has been based on. I think this might be a more masculine and culturally acceptable version of Twilight, as far as reading’s guilty pleasures go. I’m on book 3 now (for you series addicts, I think it might be towards the end of season 2 or the beginning of season 3).
He has this lovely song about a bear in the book (I so hope it’s somehow included in the series!):
A bear there was, a bear, a bear!
All black and brown, and covered with hair!
The bear! The bear!
Oh, come, they said, oh come to the fair!
The fair? Said he, but I’m a bear!
All black, and brown, and covered with hair!
This song gets repeated a lot (as do many things in the book) and, I’ve been inspired to do a series of Bear drawings. Here is one so long, it’s just a character sketch for now, but I thought the look on his face could be relevant to the “but I’m a bear!” part of the song.
